Apple App Store: iPhone vs. iTouch?

Without downloading/installing iTunes, is there any way to find out ALL the apps available for the iPhone/iTouch?

Are all apps compatible with both devices? If not, what is the breakdown of those available for the iPhone vs. the iTouch?

I just wish there was a way to explore these things without iTunes...

I don't think there is. What's the big deal about downloading itunes and uninstalling it when you're done?

Unless you jailbreak your ipod/iphone, there's no other way of using it anyway. Personally, I like Itunes.

I believe you can explore all the apps in the store on the device itself, it would just be extremely cumbersome. Also, there is some limit to how app sizes downloaded over the air, I believe its apps <10 megs (though, that could be a limit while on 3G/EDGE, not WiFi).

There are websites out there that detail most of the programs out there, and programs requiring the microphone or GPS won't work properly on the Touch (yes, you can still use WiFi location)

You should really just download and use iTunes. Is there a problem with iTunes? When you get the iPod Touch or iPhone, you should be able to search the App Store from your device. Most apps are compatible for each.

Not all apps are compatible with both devices. The iPhone is a superset of the iPod Touch, so while all iPod Touch apps will work on the iPhone, some iPhone apps (those that use cellular/GPS) will not work on the iPod Touch.
