Apple 512k on my local craigslist

Given the description, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. Definitely not worth US$400.

But no, they're not exactly rare.

Seriously, who would have that, be willing to put it on CL, and NOT at least fire it up to see if it comes on? Pass

Uhh, local place here has a pile of classics, color classics, SEs and SE30s and not one costs more than $75 and they're all working, with software.

Do they have the original box, packing materials? I wouldn't exactly call it rare but if it does work and has all the original included items in good condition, $400 isn't out of line. Personally, I would never pay that but there are those that would.

There are people that collect old computers and having the original box/disks is what they look for.

A less scrupulous person would buy the set and transfer the guts of a working 512k into the matching SN case...

It would undoubtedly need some work as the lubricant on the floppy drives turns to cement after a couple of decades.

I wouldn't buy it for $400 if it had the 512Ke upgrade with 800k drive upgrade... but $200-250 would be reasonable if it were a working 512k.
