Apple 30 inch cinema Hd + PC compatability

hello.. im from india..i am currently facing a problem.. i need to get a 30 inch display and i dunno what to do.i know the apple 30 inch is available here in INDIA and was going to buy it next week.. good thing i searched this forum though .. its probably saved me a ****** load of money.. but im sad too.. i need to go 30 inch.. and currently dell only sells the 2407 here.. so i am thinking of calling them and asking if they will do a special order for me and get one down to india..but just incase they dont...is there any chance of getting into the bios at all with the apple ?? cause that is something too critical for me to not have. im currently running a amd 5000 x2 with 4 gigs corsair pro and ati x1900xtx. will i be able to get into the bios with my 1900 XTX on the cinema 30 inch ?? please do help cause right now apple is all thats available here in INDIA and i really do want a 30 inch.. so if im stuck with a apple 30 inch anything i can do at all ???

? Not sure what you mean by "getting into BIOS". If you're talking about system BIOS, it shouldn't have a problem with X1900XT. In the end, the card has dual-link DVIs, and there are only 2 consumer LCDs that need such a big resolution. I'd imagine both ATI/NV have tested their cards on those two monitors. Check Apple forums and see if anyone has a similar configuration.

The issue is the Apple display, not the X1900XT. I don't know any details about the issue though.

Toolius, would you have another monitor available that you could use to change BIOS settings if you had issues with the apple display?

hello everyone.. thank you for the quick replies.... yes i have the view sonic 19 inch that i am using right now.. this would be spare if i got the apple 30 inch. and yes by bios i do mean system bios... cause i read here that the apple 30 inch only comes on when windows is loading.. it will not show system startup information or the bios. even if you hit delete when u start the system what will happen is that the system will enter bios but the monitor will stay off.. so essentially you cant change any settings in the main system bios on this monitor regardless of what video card you have as long as its a PC this problem will exist ..am i right with this assumpition?? also now that i will have a monitor spare...should i do it ? what would you guys do ???

That is true, you cannot get into the system BIOS with an Apple display on a PC because of some stupid limitation. You will have to swap to another display, very annoying. Try to special order the Dell 3007 or try eBay or see if Dell in UK/Europe will ship to you.

hey everyone..im still waiting for dell to get back to me but what i want to know is if i do get stuck with the apple 30 inch.. is there any chance i will get to see my system POST ? will i be able to get into my System bios? i have the sapphire Ati x1900XTX... does anyone have a system with the 30inch apple with which he can see his Bios POST ? thanx in advance for all this help.. now i just hope dell says yes to my request.. fingers crossed.. but right now its looking like my only option will be the apple... although samsung just launched the syncmaster 305T in the states.. im gonna call them here and find out about that too.. but i know this wont happen.. considering the samsung isnt even out yet in the states.. its comming in Nov.. so god alone knows when it will come to india.. lol lol
