Apple 23" BIOS Issue

I have an Apple 23" Cinema Display running off of a XFX 6800GT. I can't get this stupid monitor to display my BIOS information on boot.

I bought the display back in November of last year, but it hasn't really bothered me until recently when I was installing Longhorn Beta 1. It gets annoying having to have my old CRT hooked up to the VGA port on my card just so that I can see what I'm doing.

I searched around on Google and found a message that eVGA tech support wrote to some guy: "Scott, The card relies on info provided by the EDID in order to display to the monitor. The video card requires a minimum refresh rate of 60hz over DVI and certain monitors actually have a refresh rate that is lower, for example 58hz. Usually this information is provided by the EDID and unfortunately there is not a way for the card to ignore the EDID. eVGA.com Customer Service."

Is there a way to manually override or ignore the EDID information on boot? Or any way at all to get this thing to work beyond buying a new video card with dual DVI out?

No updates for my card's bios. It isn't just my specific card as other 6800GT owners as well as people running various other cards have the same issue. Some video cards will display everything fine while others won't.

You're using the DVI connector right? I had the same problem on my Dell 2005FPW. I'd have to switch it to VGA and it wouldnt even display the screen properly. I couldn't see the right side of the bios screen.

But now when it says "Cannot be displayed in DVI mode" I just push the button to the different modes til I get to DVI again and it displays the BIOS screen perfectly.

Do the Dell monitors have a way to tell the display whether or not you want DVI or VGA mode? The Apple doesn't have a way to do this... it's DVI only :(

Yeah, theres VGA, dvi, S-video, component. It looks like the only way to do the BIOS would be to use your old monitor :[
