"Apple's record of customer satisfaction preeminence in the personal computer industry continues unabated in 2011, as the company adds another point to its already exceptional score. At 87 (+1%), Apple outdistances its nearest competitor by 9 points.

"In the eight years that Apple has led the PC industry in customer satisfaction, its stock price has increased by 2,300%," remarks Claes Fornell, founder of the ACSI and author of The Satisfied Customer: Winners and Losers in the Battle for Buyer Preference. "Apple's winning combination of innovation and product diversification--including spinning off technologies into entirely new directions--has kept the company consistently at the leading edge."

Having a retail channel that they completely control really helps there. If you buy a Dell/HP/Whatever, then do you take it back to best buy when there is a problem? Call Dell and hope that you don't talk to someone overseas? If you have a problem with your Mac, you take it to the Apple Store.

That was one of the best things that the Microsoft stores emulate. If you buy a system from there, they are your first point of contact if something goes awry. If I had any interest in a Windows laptop, i would absolutely buy it from there.

you can, but why bother when taking it to the apple store is free?

Until a couple years ago, the nearest Apple store to me was 2 hours away in another state. Even now, the nearest store is still an hour away. Best Buy is 20-30 minutes away. Not everyone has the luxury of living down the street from an Apple store.

I'm not surprised. I called Dell the other day after having a brief online chat with them. I was transfered 4 times before someone could help me. It was a simple monitor RMA.

With Apple the worst I have had is 2 transfers.

and best buy will do what for you exactly? tell you to call the manufacturer, or charge you an arm and a leg to repair through geeksquad.

seriously, move out of the boonies.

I guess I should rephrase, at least with Apple you have the option of taking it directly to an apple store.

Ironically, the Apple store closest to him is actually in the middle of Amish Country, no lie.

the nearest apple store for me is 3 - 4 hours drive from me. Their turn around is amazing on repairs. Overnight shipping both ways.

In the past, Compaq has done a great job taking care of my notebook. If I can't afford MacBook Pro long time ago I would buy another Compaq.

I believe it. I've only dealt with apple warranty service through the website, but they were really fast and the results were always satisfactory. It also helps that every apple product I've owned was really slick and pleasant to use, if expensive.

What apple is doing just makes sense. Make good shit, take care of your customers, charge like hell. If you've got the first two down most people will overlook the third, or even twist it into a kind of plus in their minds. Even as I say that though, I'm thinking about a recent article I read somewhere about how no one could match the design of the MacBook air for the price that apple is selling it for. I supposed it indicates that the air is a truly impressive product from a design perspective and likely a fantastic buy for the money, which doesn't really jive with my general opinion of apple products. It's pretty cool nevertheless.

Apple has gotten really good at getting the supply chain sorted out and the MBA is a very good example of what they can pull off and still keep the prices down.

I've gone from a hater to a fan, my current gen MBA 13" is by far the best computer I've owned, it's very fast, "reasonably" priced, (I've bought refurb Dells for years and years, finally got sick of them, but the price was right), and sets the bar for future notebooks.

I would not personally go to Best Buy for any kind of repair, but my argument was to show why people would. Also, as TheStu already mentioned, the Apple store nearest to me is actually more in the boonies than I am. Also, for the record, I live in a reasonably decent-sized town (Carlisle, PA) at the intersection of two major US highways. I am less than 30 minutes away from the state capital and less than 4 hours away from 5 major cities (about 2 hours away from 3 of those). It's not like I'm in the middle of Wyoming or something. :p

To be fair, I only have one Apple Store down the street and only 14 within an hour of my house. ;)

As an iMac owner, I love and hate Apple customer service. When my CD's were bad and didn't let me restore, I took it to Apple and they plugged it in and restored it back to factory in 10 minutes. However, I had to wait an hour(past my appointment time) cause they also help idiots who do not know how to use iTunes, or crop photos. I watched an old man get walked through how to connect his digital camera, upload the photos, crop the photos, remove red eye, and change the file name. Of course because I was waiting, he didn't get it the first 3 times. Luckily this guys charm was 4th. I am glad I got to sit there with my 27" iMac in a crowded store, for a 10 minute fix all the while turning down the 67 apple drones with iPads trying to check me in for a second time.

So yeah, love/hate.

I'll add to the statistic and say my first mac (listed in sig) is going very well and 99% chance ill buy another one sometime in the future. The only speedbump has been switching systems. Ive never had a problem with my previous mac products nano, touch, iphone so ive never delt with Apple customer service. Im 20 min from the Apple store king of prussia mall so if something did go wrong id fly down there.

I hated apple computers back during the Power PC days. Now that they've gone Intel, their computers are much more appealing.

I held out and my first Mac was a 2009 unibody MBP. I've since replaced that with the 2011 MBP and I would have to say that I probably won't ever buy a windows laptop again. I cringe everytime someone pulls out a plastic brick of a laptop, never again.

However, I'll forever build custom desktop windows PCs.

Yea, I have one about 5-15 minutes from my apartment (car/walk) and another about 30-45 minutes away.
