AR-15 is not a hunting rifle unless one hunts small game. .223 is illegal to hunt big game in some states due to its wounding effects. And not killing the animal quickly like a more traditional hunting round like the .308

There are plenty of AR-10 variants for that if one wants to hunt with an AR platform in .308

AR-15 variants have pretty much been mass produced since Vietnam more or less, I'm not saying it is a bad rifle buy any stretch of the imagination, but for hunting I'd highly prefer something else myself.

all depends on what you're shooting i suppose. i hear they make great coyote guns, but i can't imagine you'd take out any kind of large game with one.

Technically for hunting they are varmint rifles in the majority of states in .223, and not even legal to hunt deer, but people like to take them to the range or plink groundhogs I guess.

This is my varmint rifle, with a floated Sportster barrel.

Unless they get one chambered is the 7.62X39
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62×39mm
or perhaps the .300 BLK/.300 AAC
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.300_AAC_Blackout
or perhaps the 6.5 Grendel
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.5mm_Grendel
or the .450 Bushmaster
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.450_Bushmaster

Plenty of firepower for deer, hogs, bears and even elk, but as we all know the 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting.

Common knowledge, you are not causing any epiphanies.

I have a Thompson Contender sidearm that can fire long range antelope rounds if I just bought the barrel and scope for it and set it up that way.

AR-15's just lame to me in general use, but they are cheap I suppose.

I even have a .223 barrel for the Contender, from decades ago.

By the time it makes it to the Supreme Court there will be 9 justices.

And that would matter as far as the 2d amendment to begin with, it was never going away, I've said that several time in the past.

You seem overly focused on shit that would never happen, to be honest, instead of thinking.

I'd call you a lemming, but in reality a lot of things about lemmings are false from the past.

.7MM TCU ? I hated fireforming the brass for those.
Most people have no idea about the different cartridges that are now available in the AR-15 platform.

I used to work with a friend I used to make reloading dies on the side for as a favor in a facility that built ICBM/THAAD/SLAMMER guidance systems, among other things.

Come back to me when you learn something about big guns.

AR-15's are snap together BS guns in my mind, more or less.

I been there, done that, with an M-16 in 1980.

Some good news for reasonable gun laws. Probably the biggest outcome of this is that it sets precedence for other states.

"Assault weapons and large-capacity magazines are not protected by the Second Amendment," the judges said. The banned guns include those used in recent mass shootings at Texas church and at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas."

Also "The justices also declined an appeal asserting a constitutional right to carry firearms openly in public." Another precedence.
