Apparently the new Sim City is not popular.

that was made by the good company, Maxis.

EA ruins just about everything they get their hands on. They killed Dungeon Keeper outright. I am still waiting for a modern way to torture heroes.

I will never forgive them for what they did with the Command and Conquer series.

whaa? i had about a hundred hours into Fallout NV. what did they add that you needed for the game? same with Oblivion or skyrim?

i don't mind DLC. If some idiot wants to pay $2 for a new texture pack then good for htem. while it should have been added i don't fault them. Shivering isles was a great addon. well worth the $19 i paid.

Where DLC sucks is some games have come out where if you don't buy the DLC you can'finish the game or beat a boss. Or even do shit!

Dungeon keeper was a great game. when they released it for for the tablet market they killed it. you have to pay to do shit or it will take you weeks to get somewhere that should take you an hour.

The game has over a thousand reviews, it looks popular to me.

However, it does not look well received or loved.

It's sort of like the Justin Beaver of games? People hate him, but he's popular.

To be honest, I spent $80 bucks on the deluxe version and was extremely upset for a few months. My cities would be working great then just completely break down due to the problems they had with map interaction and trading system that was set up. The Arcology worked horribly causing huge traffic back ups.

I recently updated a few days ago, logged in to my old cities and they are working much better. The game seems much more finely tuned and I will continue to play. It is classic EA to release a game way too early and work out the bugs on their actual customer base.

Can't really blame them, we all keep buying their products so we can only blame ourselves. Overall I'm happy with the end product now, DRM never mattered to me because my connection is always online and I prefer to play with friends anyway. The problem is now just getting friends to come back to the game now that it is working correctly.

The new SimCity was also made my Maxis. They are now wholly owned by EA, so a lot of the EA hate is justified, but not all of it.

No it's all justified. Maxis was acquired by EA in 1997. They integrated them a lot slower than they did with other studios so they kept their core dev talent much longer. They were able to continue producing games at a standard near equal to their pre-EA days. I don't think it's any coincidence that there was an exodus of core Maxis devs several months after SimCity was released. They all went to form their own indie studio.

The same tired story has played out with almost every EA acquisition but usually on a much shorter time frame. Maybe it was the huge success of The Sims that allowed Maxis to stave off EA's meddling for so long? But when it came time to do another SimCity EA just couldn't help themselves from getting their grubby paws all over it.

I spent $80, was relatively pissed but still got enough hours / enjoyment in that I didn't feel it was a crazy waste of money. That being said, I have almost zero interest in the game due to plot sizes (which is what I called originally too as the biggest possible flaw of the game). Oh well, you win some, you lose some...now if only Cities XL was a giant code nightmare and ran well...

Actually, YOU can blame yourself. The only game i bought from EA recently was ME3 and that was due to my faith in bioware and their track record witih ME 1 and 2. If you can't bring yourself to vote with your wallet then don't complain about shitty products.

Did you even read what you quoted, I did say we can only blame ourselves?
