I have lived in the same house for 7 years, and the road name has been the same for that entire time, but some stupid woman on my road went to the city and asked if the name of our road could be changed, and they are considering it. If the name changes will I have to call everything that sends mail to me (ie cc, magazine subscriptions, bank, ebay, internet stores, etc.) and tell them that I have had an address change even though I still live in the same house? I am really pissed off about this, going to phone the woman on my break at work.
EDIT: So they are going to change the name of my road, but its not as bad of a name change as I thought... they are changing it to Nighthawk Ridge. Well at least thats the current choice.

Nope, we just got a letter in the mail saying that we have to phone the city planner or whatever and give our vote for the name, and Tyndall rd is not on the list. What a load of sh!t eh? I am pissed about this, I am thinking about calling the woman now, but its saturday and its only 6:31, so it would be rude to wake her.

You should have called her 2 hours before then.

Get everyone together on the street that does not want to change it to contact the city and tell them that they do not want it changed. Go to the local TV stations and newspapers and express your desire to keep the name of the road the same.

Thats a good idea, I should have called her at 4:30 when I was still asleep? I should get everyone on the street that doesn't want the road name changed, and go to the city, cause everyone I have talked to thinks the new suggestions are not very good names.

I'd be really pissed that they would even suggest changing the name. I would have woken up at 4:30 just to call her, who is she to think she has the right to change the road name. That is rude. Complain to the city also.

Why the hell does she want the name changed????

Suggest they change it to "Atlantean Close" or "Namelast Street" or "Ryan Road"....all would be very cool 5 u ;)

Yeah I will tell them that those are stupid names, that if they are on the list we should add Nixon Rd, and CNN St. how about Magneto Rd, or Xmen Rd... we have already gotten a letter from the city saying what the suggestions were.

Thats pretty stupid to change the name of the street without a reason.

Where I am, they 'changed' the names of a bunch of streets to honor World Trade Center victims. Basically, the street name stayed, but underneath is a sign with their name. You'd see "Hyland Blvd" and underneath "Firefighter John Smith Rd"...

Also when I called I was given a better reason than that woman, apparently the people driving emergency vehicles couldn't find the rd because there is another rd with the same name right above us, and we are down below. So I guess that makes a road name change acceptable.

Just be happy that she didn't want to change the name to "Little Happy Apple Blossom Moonbeam Lane."

Well, anyways about mail and stuff. Company I used to work for got the name of the street changed from what it was to the Company name duh...
Anyways, half the mail was still sent with the old street name, and as far as I know nothing ever got lost because of it.
This is Canada though, dunno about your USPS. Heard some things about them that dont make me too confident in them.

I'm not going to blast or defend the USPS, but looking for Maxco Corp. on Maxco Ave. may be a bit easier than finding Joe Smith on Apple Lane.

:D

When one of my friends moved to Colorado, they found a nice community near Black Forest called "Sherwood."
Quaint, yes. However, as they drove to their prospective home, they passed "Robin Hood Road" and "Friar Tuck Way" and "Nottingham Road" -- not TOO bad.

However, to their dismay, the house they were looking at was on "Merry Men Way"

Needless to say, they found a home elsewhere.

You know you could goto a town meeting thing and just complain.... Out here in sunnyvale there is a hindu temple on a semi deserted area where most of the businesses (dot coms) have shut down, so the temple wanted to change the name to Temple dr....well one guy went to teh sunnyvale town meeting and voiced his opinion against it and it was denied.
