The correct, patriotic response to 9/11 would have been to seige the entirety of the Middle East (nothing goes in or comes out) until the puppet despots and tyrants stopped fucking around and either killed or surrendered every terrorist living there and to seize the oil fields. I don't give a shit what color a person's skin is or what they believe. It doesn't matter. What DOES matter is when a group of people kill innocents...and then other people harbor those people. There MUST be a retaliation, if only to say "this isn't OK".

The reality, though, is that our efforts were more misguided and worsely implemented than the "War on Drugs". They accomplished nothing, they will accomplish nothing, and they completely failed to make the point that terrorism is NOT OK.

Instead of avenging those killed and taking to task those who did the killing or sympathised with the killers, we had protests about what colors the firemen depicted in the WTC memorial should be. We should have immediately rebuilt the towers bigger and better than before to show the world that they can't defeat us and that we won't acquiesce to their backwards society.

Instead, we rolled over worse than the French ever have before.

Vengeance for vengeance's sake is not good. However, examples must be made of people who threaten freedom and our great country. That was not done.

I don't know Mao too well, but Stalin and Pol Pot especially were against academics. The truth is that the less educated and more ignorant the masses, the more controllable they are. It's true regardless of your political leanings. If being educated and excelling in academics makes you lean liberal, then what does that say about being conservative? Sounds to me like someone is admitting that conservatives are uneducated and ignorant and easy to lead. I realize that's what the current Republicans want, but it's not a good thing.
