Apparently it's much more difficult to get to the airport now

I haven't had problems with Ubering to O'Hare but it has gotten way more expensive. A car service from the suburbs to O'Hare usually runs us like $65 and I think the Uber we took a couple months ago was around $80. Going on another trip in a little over a week so I guess I'll find out if they're still easy to book.

You would be horrified to see Fairfield County CT to NYC airport rates for a Town Car or similar sedan.... we're talking in the area of $200 for the southern/closer towns.

The difference is that you'll usually GET that live human dispatcher to help you out when (not if) things go sideways at 3:45a on a snowy Monday morning.

Metro is no where near Detroit.

It's like half way to Chicago which is why I could make the drive in about the same time as flying with all the lost time at both ends dealing with terminal and baggage issues.

Maybe if you start from Middlebelt and 94 it might be 15 minutes. It used to take me 45 minutes from Redford and could be a couple of hours from downtown.

I could go out 96 to 275, down to 94 and be in Chicago in 4 or 5 hours and not deal with any of the DTW or ORD nonsense.
