Some people think they can say anything so long as they're "just telling the truth" or "just calling it how they see it". Really they're all just tactless douchebags.
Moving parts in rubbing contact require lubrication to avoid excessive wear. Honorifics and formal politeness provide lubrication where people rub together. Often the very young, the untravelled, the naive, the unsophisticated deplore these formalities as "empty," "meaningless," or "dishonest," and scorn to use them. No matter how "pure" their motives, they thereby throw sand into machinery that does not work too well at best. ~ R.A.H. - Time Enough for Love
So you act the same in person as your internet persona?
What, you don't? I do with people I know. People I don't know generally get ignored.
I used to work in a machine and plating shop, man you are not kidding. I remember a guy from the furnace would come over after every batch for about 5 minutes with a new set of offensive jokes. Man he never ran out and none of them were the same and this was before the average person had internets.I tend to have a dry sense of humor and enjoy ribbing people in a way that some find offensive or mean spirited. I blame it on 10 years of factory work. That's just how it is at factories, everybody jokes and nobody really means it.
