Apparently I am getting Android 11.

I dont want it. I dont need it. But the god damn phone will be giving me crap forever until I download and install it.
This is funny, cuz back when Android started it had loads of problems that never got patched. You needed to wait a year and buy a whole new phone to get real improvements.

Which phone do you have? It'll probably be alright, but I'm curious.

As it stands, it sounds like Android hasn't changed much in your case... you're just getting Android 11 after Android 12 became available.

I was a lot happier on Android 11 when I discovered that I could put the three buttons back at the bottom of the screen. I really don't like gestures, except for typing (kinda).

OK, so, I didnt notice it because I've been doing my updates over wifi, but AT&T killed cellular support for the phone about a week ago, even though it runs on 4G.

I am so freakin tired of this crap.

Update does not matter. I HAVE to get a new phone now.

Ah, the HSPA+ shutdown is kicking in — did you not get notifications for it? AT&T announced the shutdown (taking place this month) in 2019 and has been sending emails for a while. It's alright if you didn't see notices, as it might be miscommunication on the provider's part.

This is largely AT&T's fault in other respects. The carrier has a history of... well, lying about the generation of cell service you're on. HSPA+ is actually 3G, but AT&T called its implementation 4G because it was supposedly as fast (it was a fast version of 3G, but it wouldn't compare to LTE). It's been calling a souped-up version of LTE "5G Evolution" (or 5G E), too.

I'll address the phone recommendations in the other thread.
