Appalachia is beautiful, but the people can be VERY poor. The poorest i have seen people in this country.

Well I don't want to sound derogatory and offend anyone, this really was brought up from that scene in the Dukes of Hazzard movie. 🙂 Never heard it used like that before.

I did a service project in the Appalachian Mountains in High School for church. The house we were working on had cockroaches and was a shack, yet they had 3 cars, satellite TV, and two 4 wheelers. The people who live out there (no offense to anyone) have their priorities WAY out of whack.

I used to live in SW VA, and I heard the term used on several occations. It was used mainly for humor.

People who live everywhere have their priorities way out of whack. But it's their life, they can do what they want. 🙂

I don't know about AL but lots of folks exaggerate about the whole "ya sista is ya momma" thing. However you know the tea isn't quite flowing downhill when you've been to an island with less than 1000 pop and the cemetary headstones have two last names. :Q Quantity discount applies. 😉
