This program

http://www.mpex.net/software/details/mp3list.html

Worked fine in windows xp sp1, but now it won't install in sp2. It's an mp3 list maker and I've scanned in over 300 disks full of mp3s into it (all 100% legal of course), so I would really like to get this working in sp2 if possible. I dread the thought of doing it over in another program.

I tried turning off data execution prevention for that application but it still refuses to install. It crashes when I try to install "mp3list has encountered a problem and needs to close..." Anything else I could try or am I out of luck?

I've gotta ask, why is this necessary for the playback of your mp3s? I'm sure you won't have to re-rip all of them if you start using some different software instead. I'd recommend something like The Godfather if you absolutely need to manage your library. Simply do an "add" and point it to your old application's folder (or wherever your mp3s are stored) and all should be well.

I have to confess knowing nothing about the app, but I followed your link and it looks rather obscure and unlikely that the software is going to be updated.

My only attachment to this program is that I have a database file it generated with 50,000 + mp3s entered into it that I would really just like to keep adding to rather than start over adding 350 something cds/dvds full of mp3s into another program.

I'm sure it's not a well known or particularly good program but I started using it in '99 or 2000 and just stuck with it because it does/did what I needed it to.
