App to print PDF file on several pages.

I often produce maps and other files in PDF format that are 36" x 40". Before sending them to the printer, I would like to be able to print these files on 8.5" x 11" sheets that can be taped together. (In order to get a feel for how the finished product will look). How can I do this?
 
What you are asking about is called "mosaic printing." There are many solutions available. Most spreadsheet programs do it. Here is an example:
