So I have an Mp3 and the volume is lower than most. How can I normalize it easily? I tried running it through a lame converter with 'volume normalize' selected but it didn't change the volume. What app?

Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge or Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro can do what you want.

The cheaper of the two is $250... the other is $350. I was hoping for something freeware and scaled-down heheh.

Cool Edit and Steinberg's Wavelab are great, but cost a ton of money. Try GoldwaveIf you want to just edit one file, this will work great for you. You can download a fully functional demo and use it for 30 days.

Another vote for Goldwave. It is pretty much free too. Just don't go to high with the "toll" for each session.

Sound Forge Studio 6.0 is the scaled down version of Sound Forge, it runs $60 on there site. It will do what you want but for just one file it of course won't be worth it.
