App still running

Everytime that I shut down my computer, it says that there's an app that is running and is keeping the computer from shutting down. Choices are to shut the computer down anyways or to close that app. When trying to look for that app to close it down, by using the task manager, there isn't any app running, but I still get the warning. This does not happen to the other accounts on the computer, only mines.

It should present you with a name for that app. Can you tell us what it is.

Also, when you go to task manager, what column are you looking in, Applications or Processes?

It does not show a name for the app. I looked into both the App and Processes. I have Windows 8.1

Hmm, must be an 8 thing. Figures. I know when I had an issue with Office 2013, it would hang, but gave me no clues as to what it was hanging on.

Probably time to start looking into what apps you have on your profile that aren't installed on the others.

You could also go into msconfig and turn Startup apps off one at a time until the problem goes away.

It isn't a big deal, just that it's there. It could be Crome, because sometimes when I start it up, it says it wasn't close properly.

No need to apologize for being annoyed by this; it's ANNOYING and should not be happening. Do you deserve this? NO.

Ever think of trying Pale Moon? The anti Google, leaner and meaner than FX browser?

Never tried that, but I usually use FireFox, just been using Crome, because I like that you can use the search bar to Google. The app picture looks the same as Host Process, Intel, etc picture.

Well, after having learned about PM right here, I got it, tested it, fell in luv with it, dumped FX and never looked back.

You may just wanna try it!

Re search engine, I only now use IXquick, it does not track us. See how I've configured it at the top right. I just go up and hit it.

Excellent! A mini adventure! And, spreading the luv is big part of happiness. Well, I think.

Let us know your impressions if and when you try it.

Remember, Chrome IS Google.....so, the convenience you enjoy is all about commerce.

I like Fire Fox already, if so I would love Pale Moon, since it's like Fire Fox, but faster. I am using it right now. Haven't tested it out yet with other browser's speed. Will do soon.

Wow. THAT was immediate.:D

Reminds me of.....me.

And, I only like lavaFox RED as my theme. If you get this little add on called Stylish in PM, lavaFox Red becomes compatible with PM! I am sure, all the colors, but I only like the RED.

Hi, again.

If Chrome is the only app having this very annoying issue, and you wanna continue running it (for reasons I do not understand, but not my place to judge for others), I would uninstall it completely.....run CCleaner, both the junk file cleaner option and the very conservative registry cleaner option.....

...and then download and install a new copy, and before doing any configuring, getting add ons.... just test it and see if it closes normally.

I tried Pale Moon, but I put it to the speed test with Fire Fox and it lost. Even though Pale Moon is supposely to be faster.

I tried running CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes, and along with McAfee, but the issue is still there.

Sorry to hear this....it's faster for me.

Did U uninstall Chrome, clean yr registry using CCleaner, and download and install a fresh copy, and run it first with no add ons?

It is possible your current Chrome installation is corrupt.

Yes, I uninstalled Crome. Deleted CCLeaner and Malwarebytes. Reinstalled CCLeaner, Malwarebytes, and also Spybots. No add ons added.

Sorry, I did not mean U should uninstall CCleaner or MBAM!

You downloaded and installed a new copy of Chrome? Did that change anything?

As per Ketcup79, can you tell us what you see in yr startup? Might you make a screenshot and put it up here? You can even use Ccleaner! Open CC and on the left, choose "tools' and then "startup"

There's a little app I use called Strtup CPL that once installed will show up in the control panel and give you a list of crap starting in HKLM, etc. I haven't tried in in Win 8, but it should work. There's a portable version too. I haven't tried the portable version.

Looks like it's archived now in the way back machine. LOL There is M$'s Autoruns too!

I do use Pale Moon and won't go back to bigot FF.
