App Comparison between Android and Apple tablets?

Greetings,

I have been browsing these forums for a while. You guys are clearly a bunch of knowledgeable folks, so thought I should post this question here.

I am considering a tablet, either Nexus 7 or Ipad Mini (or maybe the Ipad Air). I have used Android phones, and still currently do, and have no real issues with it.

But I am not sure whether the Android apps for tablets are upto par, in terms of quality and also perhaps quantity when it comes to more popular apps on Ipad. Is it really true that many Android apps for tablets are just stretched out versions of phone apps? Do they perform just as smoothly as they do in Ipad (I have used an Ipad extensively too in the past)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

P.S. I did try search function, but it is hard to find exactly what you are looking for in such a large number of threads/posts.

I have a nexus 7 and mostly use the broswer. However, the few apps I do use, I prefer the phone layout to the tablet layout. If it's a well made app the assets scale well, at least for the apps that I use.

I'd imagine that's just because of the Nexus 7 form-factor though. Moving to a 10in Android tablet would probably present different issues.

It really goes on an app by app basis. Good thing is you don't have to rebuy tablet apps on Android for the most part.

Provide examples of apps you want to use on a tablet.

News apps like bbc news etc. Racing games...my kid likes them. Other games

Are there any notable or popular apps or games on Ipad that dont exist at all on android?

Probably nothing that you would write home about. Looking at the store myself and I rarely see anything I care to download outside of the dozen or so I currently have.
Most devs seem to make both versions for their apps so you may want to focus on the hardware itself on which suits your needs.
