Apology to B3d

I noted in a couple of SLI threads my thought that the seemingly inaccurate 6800NU information in B3d's SLI article somewhat tainted the findings.

It's come to my attention that MSI 6800NU SLI may just have issues in general that I did not experience with my Leadteks, and that previous MSI SLI reports did not encounter.

Another site that had problems with MSI 6800NUs

As I was in error, I wanted to post this for the 2-3 guys who may have believed me. 😉

Yet another black eye for MSI. They always seem to rush buggy products to market.

Maybe MSI's gone down the hill but the best overclocking videocard I ever has was an MSI GeForce4-Ti4400 (275/275) that overclocked to 330/325. It was solid as a rock. I also have a MSI DVD-ROM that I've had for 2 years with nary a problem (I watch alot of DVD movies on my PC).🙂

Ive had some horrible MSI motherboards pass through my hands, especially the SiS based chipset boards.

BIOS bugs, stability problems, hardware incompatibilities, and DOAs.

Their Neo-2 865 boards seems to be okay. I have 2 of them.
I never owned a video card from MSI however.

Everyone I know that has ever used an MSI board has had problems with it. Needless to say, I'm jaded.

Well MSI's N-Force 3 mobo's are rock stable, at least the ones I've had. For overclocking I would still take DFI. I've never had a video card from them either.

i have an MSI mobo (top rig in sig)......the tacky plastic lookin chipset HSF developed a nice lawn mower sound....then died. when i removed the heatsink it seriously felt like something you get in happy meal. the thermal paste job was a mess too....looked like a whole tube had been used. its the most unstable thing ive ever owned, and will never buy anything major from them again

guess MSI are kinda a hit n miss company

I miss my old MSI-6309 - good old competition to the 440BX back in mid-2000 (totally ignoring the whole 820 chipset fiasco).

My best friend and I had reliable, overclockable MSI GeForce3 Ti200's and I had a solid MSI GF4, but I've never cared for any of their motherboards and haven't dealt with them since the GF4 days. Looks like the corner cutting they have done in the past (eg poor 2d filters, etc) is starting to catch up to them.

Thanks- I owed it to Dave/B3d.

He explained to me that the results were accurate for the set of MSI 6800NUs that he purchased, and that he agreed that the results didn't make sense given the hardware specs.

I had seen other MSI 6800NU data that conflicted with his (Firing Squad, nVNews Forums)and my own Leadtek 6800NU SLI did as well, so I foolishly decided he was in error posting the 6800NU results at all. As the other site replicated his results, I have to assume there is a problem with a batch of MSI 6800NUs.

I still don't think they're representative of 6800NU performance, and that anyone with Asus or Leadtek NUs will see much better, but I screwed up questioning the validity of Dave's article due to this.
