I recently got a Radeon 8500 LE and installed it. I used the latest Catalyst drivers (2.5) from ATi. It worked fine until I shut down. Now whenever I turn on my computer, Windows cant boot and it goes to that screen where it gives you the option of Starting Windows normally, last known good configs, and the 3 safe modes. I try to start it normally or use the last known config, but it starts to boot, goes into the blue checking disc screen, and after that, it restarts and back to the "Windows was unable to boot" screen with 5 options. I tried safe mode and used the system restore, but that didnt help. When I went into safe mode, a box popped up and said the "ati2dvag.dll" caused problems and asked me to send the error report. That .dll file is the main driver for my card..

I tried uninstalling 2.5 and tried catalsyst 2.4 and the same thing happens.

Does anyone know what's wrong? :(

Oh, and here are my system specs:

Duron 800 @ 900
Asus A7V
512MB PC-133 Ram
Aureal Vortex Sound
and other stuff..

after you uninstall the last drivers you had and restart, go into search and type ati*.* and delete anything you see. then go to ati and install catalyst 3.0, along with dx9 from m$, and see if that works. I hope it does the trick.

*side note* since you recently installed your radeon, you had a card in their before so also make sure all those drivers are uninstalled and look for any files that are associated with your previous card, even if it is an ati! then do all the things i said above.

merry x-mas!

You have a "powered by" Ati card. Make sure the newest Cat.'s are made to work with it. You might just want to install the latest drivers from Apollo's website.

I went to Ati's site and got the drivers under their "Powered By" section.

Thanks for the suggestions. I delete the old nvidia drivers that I still had. I hope that was the problem thought it's probably not it..
