Apex Allied good powers supply?

i Have a apex allied 500 watt power supply and i was wondering if this is a good enough ps to power my new system
specs: abit av8 (Sh*tty Asus board would post in dual channel :( )
amd 3000+ winchester
sapphire x800 xt
74 gb raptor
sound audigy 2 zs

Sounds like a generic. It might be able to power the system non-overclocked, but I would look at some good Enermaxes and Fortrons in your price range.

Apex/Allied PSUs are pretty decent, as far as just running a rig goes. I don't know how well they'd hold up for overclocking. I use them in budget rigs. You may want to get a better PSU more geared towards overclocking, but you should probably give the Allied a quick try if you've already got it in your rig, just to see if it can handle it.

Although I've not run across the Apex name, I have used Allied PSU's in smaller sizes over long periods of time, and had no complaints (250-350 watt sizes). On the other hand, in a stickied thread here at AT, one of the long-time members rates Allied PSU's as little better than the Powmax (crap) psu's. It's called "The Power Supply Thread", I think. I would want to look closely at any of Allied's higher-rated power supplies, to compare them to better-ranked brands' units known for quality.

thanks for the help i think i will probably go for the ocz power supply. seems like the best bet for psu right now....... just need to get my money back for my asus a8v first....

o and what about the ultra-x power suppleys that are moduler and you can remove the rails that you dont use? any ideas about how good those are??
