Apex Ad 1200 problems

My 1.5yr old apex ad 1200 has finally hit that point where I can't load anything but it'll still turn on. I've tried many different discs but can't seem to get it to load any of them. It keeps coming up with 'No Disc.' I opened it up and watched it try to load it but it seems like it has power problems or something. It just tries to move the disc and fails. I lubed up the spindle but it didn't affect it.

I've searched the internet and haven't found much to solve this problem. I know I should trash this crappy dvd player but I'd like to take a crack at make it working again. Does anyone know of anything I can do to make it work again?

Thanks for any help.

The common fix for this model is to stretch the springs that
the DVD drive is mounted to (to the rear of the drive loader,
under rubber mounts, on the metal plate).

The springs were weak from manufacturer. Stretching them
slightly allows the laser to raise to the proper level.

Works on about 90% the machines.

Other things to check is the drive belt if your model has the
older transport mechanism and main drive spindle
(the part with the rubber that spins the CD) for dust & dirt)

no not that. Wanted to see if there were any other ideas out there. I plan to work on it this weekend to see (hopefully) that it'll work and I'll report back. Just wanted to keep my problem from dropping out and getting deleted too soon.

Thanks for the idea!
