Walmart has Apex 1100 DVD/VCD/MP3 player for $74 on sale. It is old style but works with most poor quality VCD/DVDs

What do you mean it is old style? I just bought one yesterday... I like the fact that it's silver. I think Silver DVD players look sweet compared to the dull black ones (at least the plain black Apex players look dull). Anyway, I thought this was one of their new models. From what I understand you can burn a CDR full of jpg's and it'll display them like a slide show. I haven't opened the box yet. Not quite sure who I wanna give this one to. But for $74 you can't go wrong.

this is new model - added kodak cd and jpeg playback, even apex's website doesn't have it yet.
vcdhelp.com has no detail info about it, but with 2 user reviews, both gave good comments.

today I also went to walmart, at the parking lot, I saw this player in someone's bag, so I went to buy one, bought the last one. At first I though this is a clearance item, but later found out it's listed as new item at walmart website and it has more features than the more expensive 500WM.

one thing I like this player is when playing PAL VCD, it's automatically converted to NTSC for output.
one thing I don't like this player is when playing bi-lingual VCD, cannot select L or R audio channel. (does anybody know if there is a way to do that?)

I have an AD-1500. AD-1100W does not have a LCD display, which is really a big drawback. I'd rather pay another $5 grabbing AD-1500 at CircuitCity. And 1500 is hackable as long as the S/N starts with A, C or D to be region free and VCR friendly. 1100W? Too new that no hacker has worked it out yet.
