Aperture Library on Thunderbolt drive?

I have recently gotten into digital photography and I've been using Aperture to manage my photos. I split my time between my iMac and my Air but sharing the library over a network drive isn't really practical (or nessecary).

So I'm thinkng of getting a portable thunderbolt setup like the seagate. Has anyone done this? How's performance? My other concern is making backup copies. I assume I could use Automator to make a script to create backup copies when the drive is plugged in?

Thanks in advance.

Thunderbolt gives you native SATA speeds but it's rather expensive, unless you are talking about the Seagate GoFlex adapter model.

The goflex was the one I was planning on. It seems like it would fit well in my gear bag when I travel and such. It also seems like a good price compared to the rest of the market unless I'm missing something.
