Aperture Grille or Shadow Mask

AG is better for graphics, etc.

Go to the store and pick out the monitor that looks best to you, that's really the only way to choose.

I and many others prefer AG, but many prefer SM. You really should decide for yourself by checking out monitors in a display at a store.

I used to prefer SM when I was working on my old Apple. Then I got an AG which drove me nuts for the first several months. I was used to eveything being smooth on the SM but I can't stand them now. I feel like I'm looking at a low def TV. As Skater said, go to the store and pick the one that looks best to you. However, don't judge by the big row of monitors sitting up, go up to individual computers. It should be obvious.

Another SM fan here, paid $1.000 for mine, it was worth it.
But like others have said, go have a look, some people don't mind AG at all, while others do.

I didn't even noticed grill line on the screen for days until someone told me about it.
after that I couldn't stand it, so I exchanged to SM lol.
