AG monitors are well known for great color quality, while SM monitors generally display better text.

There isn't much of a difference in price, but AG's will usually cost more.

AGs have better color and brightness , like the pictures are more "warm" because the AG lets more light through, but the SM tubes are sharper (well if you get a good one)

I swear if i here somebody complain about those two damper lines, i am gonna go insane, lol. I don't even see them until somebody points them out to me, lol. BUT, everyone's got different eyes, so i wouldn't blame anybody.

Anywaz, i found that Shadow Mask monitors have a brighter image and i think to the average person they would look better.

But to aa person who has been around computers alot, and want something sharper, then you would definately go with a trinitron monitor.

also keep in mind with a SM monitor you might wanna get a glare filter cuz you just cant get away with all that much glare. a good glare filter for 19'' monitors run about $100 retail, so the price advantage on SMs is somwhat diminished.

Good SMs have anti-glare coating that works well. No need for a special filter unless glare really bothers you (annoying like those holder lines them nasty AGs have?). ;)

Someday soon I'll take a hard look at the latest AGs and make a final determination on the damper lines.

yeah, those so-called coatings are just as 'REAL' as dynaflats are real flat CRTs :| it is just a marketing gimmick. just the way i dont notice those lines you loathe, the glaring you dont notice drive me nuts. to each his own.
