APC UPSes (500va for $40, 280va for $20) at Wal-mart

As per an earlier mention in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=196234 here is a copy of the receipts I got when i purchased 2 APC UPSes from Walmart.

The APC Back-UPS 500 are clearanced to $40, and the Back-Office 280 is $20 at the Philly (delaware ave location). At this price i cleaned them out...and i wanted more. So i went to a couple other stores and their prices varied (mostly in the $120, $75 respectively range)...but i got a couple managers to agree to let me take more at the delaware ave price. $98 for the APC Back-UPS 500, said that WAS the clearance price here. How good is Walmart about matching prices in other stores?

No luck down here in Dallas, TX. I visited two stores and they both scanned in the 500 at $123 and the 280 at $83.

OK, hers what happened to me, i went to walmart and went to the compute rpart and got one and had em ring it em. rang up at $123, i asked if they price matched adn they said they dont price match their own stores because of price differences in diff parts of country. they had a clearence rack there in the computer part as well that had nothing i wanted. well on the way out i walked by another clearence rack and lo and behold a 500 model for $123 but on the rack was a 50% off sticker. so i got it for $66 after tax. =) great deal. they had alot of the 280's as well and also speakers and all sorts of stuff.

I went by a Wal Mart in Orlando, and only partial luck.

The 500 was reduced to $80 and the 280 was reduced to $50.

280 $80 from $85 WOW (being feciciuos)
500 $100 from $149.95 not terrible....

Nice lady told me the price will drop and to keep checking maximum 20% decrease each cycle..

I guess I will check another Walmart..

What I meant was each the dept manager decides to lower the price the maximum that they can do it is 20%

Checked my WalMart in Warrenton, VA....5 APC500s on the shelf marked down to $50.00 each...bought em' all.

I checked here in Atlanta tonight, and they had the 500 for $98 and the 280 for $70. Some of the other prices were ridiculous -- $75 for a Creative Labs TNT2, not Ultra. I'll keep checking though since they had a few Live! Values for $45, which might be a good price if they lower some more.

i went to the walmart in santa fe new mexico and found one apc500 left. it rang up at 65.00. i told the salesperson about seeing a $40.00 price on the internet. i was told to print out the message. i brought back a printout of the first message in this thread without the receipt printouts and the dept. manager lowered the price to $40.00.

Checked two Wal-marts in Indianapolis, IN... $80 for the smaller one, didnt bother checking the 500. Oh well..
