Needed a ups with at least 8 outlets and connections for cable for upcoming Christmas electronics with a small footprint. This one came up as the best price at the time. They have an instant $30 off with free shipping. Not the best deal I have posted but it is at least $30 less then what anyone else is selling it for and without the hassle of rebates.

8 Power outlets

30 minutes of Backup time when fully loaded

Includes USB auto shutdown, data recovery and firewall protection software

Provides 12 Amp, 420 Joules surge protection
Protect phone, cable modem, DSL, dial-up modem, fax or CATV

$150,000 lifetime equipment warranty

2-Year Warranty

Damnit, I just got this from CompUSA with the $20 rebate. I hate rebates. :(

I feel the same way about rebates, guess I'm getting old. CompUSA has the Belkin 1200va unit on sale for $124 with a $25 rebate. But it only has 6 outlets and with a 670 watt rating for me the APC with 8 outlets and 600 watt is the better choice. The unit is to protect our TV (190 watts) and stereo equipment from those little power outages that last a few seconds, and brown outs of course.

Wait, is this the BR1000? OfficeMax lists the product as the BX1000 but there is no such thing on APC's site.

The backup time when fully loaded is: 5.9 minutes (600 Watts) not 30 minutes as stated in the ad.

They are generous with their estimates on run time :)

The front of the unit says XS to even make it more confusing. If you do a search at BestBuy($149) or Amazon($149 + shipping) for bx1000 you get the same unit. BestBuy has a better picture of the unit. Buy.com ($139)sells the same unit but the picture is for an RS 1500.

Alright, to clear up a couple points here. The BX1000 is the RETAIL version of the RS1000, which is listed on APC's site. The only thing different about the BX1000 is it lacks the Ethernet protection.

Also, even though the unit has 8 outlets, only six of them are battery protected. The other two are only surge protected. So in that sense you are better off with the Belkin. I still prefer the APC because I like the tower design and it takes up less foot space under my desk.

Also, the estimated runtimes are only based on "normal usage" configurations, not what most of us ATer's have for PC's. :D
