Over the past two weeks we have had 4 customers servers slow to a crawl after what appeared to be a simple reboot. All of the servers sat at 'applying computer settings' for a long time. One server took over a day to get back into the desktop. They could access their network drives, and most of their client to server software worked. Originally I thought it was a 2003 problem, then we had a 2000 server do it. Between searching the internet and disabling enough services, all of the servers turned out to have an issue with the APC software suite. By disabling the two APC services, the servers run normal speed.
I talked with a friend who is also a tech, and he had the same problem on one of his customers servers.
Anyone else have this happen to them? Has anyone found a detailed explanation?
Hope this helps someone, if nothing else.
