APC Back-UPS ES 725VA at Micro Center - $49.44. $19.85 for "standard" shipping, but if you have a local Micro Center you can buy it online and pick it up to save the shipping cost. The lowest price for this on PriceGrabber (before shipping) is $69.89. The lowest price for this on PriceGrabber (after shipping to my location) is $79.86.

Good find! I just got the $99 AR Back-UPS XS 1000va from CUSA last week for my main PC, and I am thinking about picking this up for the SBS 2003 server I am going to set up.

Stumbled on this deal several days ago. Good find since it beats any other price by at least $20. Luckily, I have a Micro Center near me.

Add it to your cart and select in store pickup. It says it right there.

I see it now. For some reason, the page wasn't giving me the option of locations before for in-store pick up.

Thanks. I picked one up to backup my Linux server. It will hold it for almost an hr. I even found a utility that will work with the USB interface to do a graceful shutdown. It even sends me an email when power is lost/restored.

I just price checked that APC at APC.com on thier trade-in (I have a older BK900) program.
This item is selling for $70.00 from APC on the trade-in program! That is PRETTY bad when you can buy it NEW from a reseller cheaper than you can from the vendor themselves on a special program!

That's how ATI's trade-in program works. I was thinking about trading in an old crappy ATI card for a new one, but at their prices, I'm better off just keeping my crappy old ATI card and finding a deal on a new one.

These companies look at MSRP and hope that most companies will charge this and then when they take off a few bucks off of MSRP, they think we're going to bite. The problem is that they don't seem to adjust their prices as the product gets older in the life cycle.

725 Vs 500 VA, so backup time will be longer. Another spec is 450 vs 300 watts. Basically, 50% more power. It has 4 backup/4 surge vs 3/3. It also has surge ports for cable and 10/100. USB only interface. 500CS has USB and serial. 500cs has a better surge rating, phone line surge protection.

Thanks.. So the 725 has more back up time and the 500CS has better surge protection.

Which is a better deal? This 725 for under $50 or the 500CS for under $40?

Which one is better overall though? They seem like totally different products to me. They look totally different anyway. What is this Backups aimed at and what is the 500CS aimed at for type of user?

I'm just a little confused about this whole back ups thing.

Thanks again.

ES is like their home line, CS is their business line.

Wow, decent deal, thanks. I am currently running off of a Tripp-Lite "Internet Office" 450/500 model UPS that is getting on in years. I was thinking of just upgrading the UPS, instead of replacing the batteries when they go.
