Was looking for a cheap reliable UPS for my home computer to help with summer brownouts and came across this. At Officedepot.com the rebate is not listed with the product description but can be found in their rebate center. Will give you enough time get through a short interuption or to shut down, but not enough to finish rendering that project you let go overnight.

We use this for our SMB (small medium business) clients and have a basic p4 2.4 box, lcd, and voip phone plugged into the ups side (3 plugs) and their accessories go into the other side which is surge supressed (3 plugs). Has a USB to RJ45 cable that connects the PC to the UPS. you can install APC Powerchute or not and just use windows power management... they get about 7-10 minutes backup time. the PC PS is rated at 350 but with the minimal box its probably drawing less than 200.

The 500va has powered my older webserver (Dual PII 400, 2 hard disks - not very power efficient) for over 45 minutes durring an outage. I had another 500va connected to my P4 2.5 workstation (5 hard disks + LCD) and it would stay up for 18-22 minutes.

Good UPS
 
This is only rated for 300W. You usually power your monitor with it too. If you have a CRT, that leaves only 200W for your PC!
 
These little UPSs are also good for sensitive home electronics like PVRs (e.g. TiVo) and media servers. Great value.
 
If I were you guys I might consider splurging a bit and getting one with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR). Sometimes brown outs can cause more damage than black outs and I wouldn`t trust that model to handle brown outs.
