apartment suggestion: private rental vs corporate rental

I am currently looking for an apartment in santa monica, LA area

what kind of apartment would u choose?? private rental (the one that u deal with the owner), or corporate rental (apartment complex run by a company)

pros and cons of each??

Corporations generally run the larger buildings with more amenities and the like.

OTOH, dealing with the owner directly is nice as it leaves you some room to negotiate certain things.

I live in a 4 br/ba with 1 occupied by the owner (technically owner's son). I have lived in corporate owned ones and found the office people to be evil and vindictive and make lots of mistakes. We have a contract and all that and if I have a problem, I just tell him and if something went wrong with the refrigerator or washer, for example, I know he will fix it soon because he is just as badly affected as I am.

Short answer: private!

also what is bachelor type aprtment?? is it similar to studio??

Negotiating things like fees and whatnot. Owners also (usually) have a vested interest in keeping their properties up to snuff when it comes to repairs.

Corporations that are run by the almighty dollar tend to cut corners on occasion, and as ReelC00l stated, the office people are usually cranky abusive idiots that take pleasure in pissing you off.

i'd much rather have private owned apt... i HATE corporate apts... so damn tired of mine. They ALWAYS screw you out of your deposit. They dropped a tree on my truck. They screwed up my bills. I can go on and on. I hate this place, but right now i'm stuck here...
