Apartment question--short (3 mo.) leases?

A couple of friends and I are thinking about getting an apartment for next summer (as opposed to living at home). We'd only be there for the summer, 3 months or a little more. Moving in and out won't be a problem. I haven't dealt with getting an apartment before so don't have much experience. Is it common/possible to get a lease this short, as opposed to 6 mos or a year?

Some places will rent by the year, half year, or month. The monthly rate is generally a bit more than the yearly.

Get on the horn and call some places. Tell them you only need it for 3 months. I would expect you'll find some that can accomidate.

I've found that it's a LOT more, as much as several hundred dollars a month.

It is possible to find a short-term lease, but you will be paying more for it. Shouldn't be too bad if you are splitting the rent with some roommates, though.
