apartment noob question

i'm moving into my first apartment pretty soon. i have a wall calendar that i'd like to put up. is that allowed? would putting a nail into the wall considered "damaging" the apartment?

Look into the terms of your lease.

I know with my lease it would be. You could do it, but you'd have to fix the hole yourself before moving out.

also, does management check in on your apartment when you're not there? are they allowed to do that?

That varies by state.

I believe if they give you proper notice that they're doing an inspection, they can enter the property without you being there after the alotted amount of time.

I agree with the thumbtack statements. When they repaint anyways, will cover it right up.
