apartment and manager problems

so back in July, I moved into an apartment, and If I"m not wrong, the contract ends on Jan 1st 2006.

I was planning to move out and back to my parents house as I am buying a house, so will move in to save some money.

I went to the manager on Dec 6 and told her I want to move out. She told me that a 30 day notice is required. Somewhere in the paper states that if a 30 notice is not given, then I forfiet my deposit. I told her I would move out on Jan 6, and she said that is fine, and all I need to do is pay for the 6 days I"m staying over.

Recently, something came up, so yesterday, I asked her if it was ok with her, I would like to move out on Jan 1 instead. I told her that I know I will lose my deposit, and if it is ok with her, I would like to do that.

She said no, because 1) I will need to pay for the additional 6 days no matter what, because a 30 day notice is not given, and 2) she states my contract ends on Jan 31st, and she is letting me move out 1 month early.

I haven't had time to look through the contract to make sure, but I thought my contract ends Jan 1st.

The contract only states about losing deposit if you move early, but it doesn't state anything about paying for extra days after the contract expires.

I"m gonna talk to the manager and try to get this corrected, but if she doesn't let me move out, can I just leave?

the only thing I am worried about is that if I just move out like that, does that in anyways effect my credit? I was preapproved for a house already, and I dont want to be disapproved because of bad credit if I move out without notice.

what do you guys think?

Read the damn contract. Most of these questions are easily answered if you do that. If you're too lazy, hire a lawyer to read it for you.

pay the 6 days and you can move out now if you want. All they care about is the money.

i think you need to read the lease. but then again you should read it BEFORE you sign it.

Read the entire lease agreement from top to bottom.

If it were me I'd just pay the extra 6 days.

Why you don't you just leave on Jan 1st, pay for the six extra days and keep your deposit instead?
