OK. Here's the deal.
I'm still learning, obviously. Couple of questions here.
I'm running Rhat 7.1:
I've got Apache Installed. I dl'd the source and compiled, and installed with the default options.
I've also done the same with Samba, but haven't configured the beast yet.
The first thing I want to do is to get Apache loaded every time automatically. Every refernce I've found for doing this mentions putting a command in the Inetd file, which RH 7.1 has moved to xinetd which is a directory, so I'm lost there. Also, there's mention of putting a call to the command "apachectl start" in the rc.local file. So, which way should I go? And How?
If my apachectl file is in "/usr/local/apache/bin" directory, how would I add the command to the rc.local file?
Second question is bigger.
I'm running Samba as I said earlier. I want to get SWAT up and running. There is the correct entry in the etc/services file, and there is also a swat.conf (I think that's the name) in my xinetd directory. When I boot into Linux, I start Apache manually, but there's nothing responding on port 901. Is this because Apache isn't started automatically? Will solving my first problem fix this one?
Thanks in advance
