Hello!
I know that there's a limitation of 10 concurrent connections in XP Pro. But does it only apply to built-in IIS or any web server software installed, like Apache?
Please, if you also could provide a link to a MS document or a book or any kind of source for your answer. That's because on the Internet opinions vary and I want to find a definite answer.

From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314882 :

Note For Windows XP Professional, the maximum number of other computers that are permitted to simultaneously connect over the network is ten. This limit includes all transports and resource sharing protocols combined. For Windows XP Home Edition, the maximum number of other computers that are permitted to simultaneously connect over the network is five. This limit is the number of simultaneous sessions from other computers the system is permitted to host. This limit does not apply to the use of administrative tools that attach from a remote computer.

Why on earth are you using a workstation operating system to host a webserver anyways? I'd recommend dual booting or setting up another PC running your Linux distribution of choice to be honest.

I read in lots of places that one can easily have many more simultaneous connections than just 10. As per Microsoft licensing...On the SAME page that you mentioned, read this:

The TCP connection limit is not enforced, but it may be bound by legal agreement to not permit more than 10 clients.

NOT enforced and MAY BE bound...Maybe not :)

'cos I HATE Linux!!! I tried couple of times to try to like it...No...not for me.

'cos I don't have a server OS :) Nor its gonna be a huge problem, in my opinion, to switch XP for Windows 2003/2008...Same general idea ( unlike Linux).
Last, but not least...The max. concurrent conection I ever had was TWO!
The day I'm gonna have 10 will be my lucky day :)

I'll contact MS directly to know 100%.

When you contact Microsoft, I predict the following will occur:

They are simply going to tell you that running a web server on any of their desktop OSes isn't supported under any circumstances, no matter how few users you have. They'll further tell you that you need to purchase a Windows Server OS and they'll even helpfully offer to connect you to sales (which is probably the only "helpful" thing they'll actually do for you).

So, you'll either have to cough up the dough for a Windows Server OS or go with Linux - just not much of a choice there. You might find a copy of Server 2003/2008/2011 on eBay that is more affordable, but obviously you'll be taking a risk depending upon the seller....

I don't know, but Microsoft Israel is a GREAT company! They actually did more for me than most other commercial entities. Running a web server is allowed on XP, otherwise a crippled version of IIS wouldn't be there. Simple common sense.
As per connection limitation...After that lucky day when I have 10 concurrent coonection from 10 people who are simltaniously have an interest in what I have to offer online, I'll switch to Microsoft Server OS. As per purchasing it...Why would I need E-bay. I dislike it as much as Linux. I have this:

http://www.yad2.co.il/Yad2/Yad2.php...bCat3ID=95&fromPrice=&untilPrice=&Info=Server

There you can also see a picture...
The price of Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 Server Standard Edition (5 licenses) is 450 NIS.
Which is 118 US$. There's a tel. No. there +972529751400. And the name: Daniel.
Though its OEM, but here noone buys Retail anyway.

Then I can have hundreds or thousands of connections easy without breaking the head with Linux.
