I'm currently using XP PRO and I am fiddling with Apache to use as a server to access my files when I'm away from home.
I'm pretty much a noob to this stuff and am learning as I go.

I am able to successfully share a root drive or folder but unable to access shortcut folders.

In Apache if I set "D:\MUSIC\TAGGED AND ORGANIZED" as the Doc Root, I can access my entire mp3 collection online including subfolders

However, if I set "D:\SERVER\Shortcut to TAGGED AND ORGANIZED" as the Doc Root, I get these " .lnk " files when accessing my server from a browser which won't let me access the files or subfolders.

How do I set it up so I can access files using folder shortcuts when my files are stored like this:

D:\MUSIC\TAGGED AND ORGANIZED
F:\PHOTOS\FAMILY
G:\VIDEOS\TV SHOWS

Anyone have any ideas?

I wanted to setup something easy for others to use without having to install any additional software on their end. So if my friend wanted access to some stuff I have on my home server he/she could access it via IE or FF and just enter a username and password and browse through the files.
