This is why we need a different voting system from plurality (one vote for one candidate per person, most votes win). For instance, consider approval voting, where you vote yes or no on every candidate. Plurality voting perpetuates the two-sides-of-the-same-coin state that the Republicrats have going; and while eliminating a bad voting system won't solve every problem, it certainly must help.
