AP Client fracks my WLAN

I've been motoring right along with a standard 802.11g network in my home, based on a cheap Belkin router (which has worked very well up until now).

I've added a box which for various reasons cannot have a wireless adapter, and has only ethernet connectivity. I was wondering how I would connect this without spending money when lo an behold, I remembered I had an Airlink 101 AP411W access point sitting in my closet.

This device has a mode where it can act as a wireless client, and I can hook the new computer's ethernet straight to it and have access to the network. This works great, but when I do it, no other wireless clients in the house can connect reliably to the wireless network. Actually they do connect well, but have about 99% packet loss and are functionally unusable.

Any ideas?

skypilot,

Maybe try providing more details of exaclty what you are trying accomplish. With details.

The term you should be searching for is "wrokgroup bridge" (on google) This allows a wireless access device to bridge wired clients to a wireless network. With more details a whole ton of options are available.
