I need to make a quick decision. I ordered the Gigabyte Aorus 1080 Ti but it hasn’t shipped yet (it will shortly). Amazon dropped the price on the EVGA FTW3 to match Newegg and it is the same price as the Aorus. Should I cancel the Aorus order and get the EVGA?

I would. FTW3 is pretty much the gold standard. Normally I would say it's not worth it. Almost all reviews show the FTW3 is an exercise in excess. It won't really overclock any higher than the SC2, and it's thermals are only marginally better, and in exchange you get a much larger more cumbersome card to deal with. But it will also have water blocks for it if you plan to go under water, and as long as it's the same price as the SC2, why not?

Well, after my recent experience with Gigabyte warrantying a 1070 (sent me two confirmed defective GPUs in a row), I'm fairly confident I'll never order another GPU from them. I've been extremely happy with my 1080ti FTW3 and it does cool significantly better and boost higher than the 1080ti SC I had before it.

I originally bought the Aorus but returned it due to it being a 3 slot video card, it didn't perform as expected and the software for it sucks. Got the FTW3 and very happy with it.

Thanks, that’s what I suspected. I killed the Aorus order and went with the FTW3.

I have both an Aorus and the FTW3. The FTW3 boosts slightly higher in operation than the Aorus and isn't as bulky. They're both good cards but all else being equal including price I'd go with eVGA for their service/warranty/resale value.

How's the warranty transfer for EVGA? The last time I checked a long time ago, it only applied to the original owner when registered.
