I have an old Aopen XC Cube EX661L system. I have listed two URLs below with the specs:

http://global.aopen.com/products_detail.aspx?auno=23
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

I have a few questions which I am hoping some of the experts in these threads can shed some light on:

1) Anyone know the form factor of the motherboard in this system ? is it mATX, mini-ITX or a custom format ?
2) If custom, anyone know if this can accomodate/support either a mATX or mini-ITX motherboard ? I like the form factor but want to replace the 'innards' completely
3) I have a spare Core 2 Duo CPU that I would like to use in the above system. Anyone know if there is such a beast like a motherboard that supports a Core 2 Duo BUT with DDR3 memory (preferably upto 16GB) instead of DDR2 ?

Thanks

1) given the age, it should be a matx board. but cant find any confirmation
2) should be able to replace innards. if you can just do a quick measurement of the board to see if its matx
3) nope, cannot use that cpu on that board, different sockets, would have to replace the board

Dahak, In response to your #3 above, I am fully of the expectation that I will have to rip the existing Mobo (that supports socket 478) that came as part of the barebone system.

What I am asking is: Are there existing Motherboards that support a Core 2 Duo (LGA 775) that support DDR3 RAM instead of DDR2 in a mATX or mini-ITX form factor ? which I would then install in the above system by ripping out ALL the innards

Thanks
