Hello all,

I recently brought:

AOpen XC Cube EZ18
AMD 2500XP Mobile
512Mb Curial PC2700
Maxtor 40Gb HD

The computer works very well, but I have a couple of questions.

In the bios the CPU is not recognized i.e. is shows UKNOWN CPU TYPE. I have updated it to the latest bios it was R1.10 I updated it to R1.11 but did not resolve the problem.

I wanted to check what to set the processor to at the moment it is at FSB 133 x 12.50, this runs the CPU at 1.66Ghz with a CPU voltage of 1.575v. I would like to know what the correct settings were bearing in mind that the highest the multiplier would go it 12.50.

The final problem is running it at these setting makes the CPU rather hot, a long gaming session makes the CPU rise to just over 60c!!!! But this is when the Smart Control is turned on the control the processor fan. Unfortunately there are only two setting full or smart.

Thanks for any help and any more info needed just ask.

P.S I am thinking I might buy a AMD 2000+XP as a replacement because I wanted a cool SFF system and though the Mobile CPU would do this.

i'm not sure about your temp problem tho, maybe bad heatsink on the AOpen?

thanks, yea the temps are a bit of a worry but I think it is because of running it in near silent control in the bios. Have I set my Mobile up correctly because I am not sure by was thinking of chnaging the settings to:
133 x 12.50 at 1.45v
or
166 x 11 at 1.45v

any thoughts

to be honest i have no idea what the right setting is.

I believe it is 133 x 14 or 15

anyway, i got a athlon mobile 2400 35W one and right out of the box i did 200x11 at 1.525 V

just mess around and whatever number you get, prime95 it for 24 to see if it is stable.

I've been having some serious issues dealing with Aopen's tech support with regards to some issues I have with my new EA65 barebones. At this point, I'd recommend against buying Aopen barebones in case anyone is researching.

It sounds like AOpen doesn't want to support the XP Mobile, which is too bad. I also wanted to make it cool and quiet. If you find out anymore about XP Mobile support, let us know.

Yea I have quite a few problems with Mobile XP's, I would recomend not using Mobile XP's. I plan to buy a 2000+ at some point. Though I would still recomend buying an EZ18 because they look very nice and are VERY quite, It is quiter than my Shuttle SN41G2, my Antech Sonata and my Lian Li 6070.

Other than the Mobile XP problem it runs like a dream.
