If you really need a PCI card the MX400 is OK. It does not suck. The MX200 sucks.
The PCI bus will start to show signs of its limited memory bandwidth when going to 1024*768 resolution. If used at 800*600 it is fine.

I am using a GeForce 2MX 32Mb SDR PCI card in my Celeron 500 and runs OK.
Some people will probably suggest Voodoo5 5000, and it is for sure the fastest PCI card out there but since 3dfx is gone then it is a dead end.

With PCI Graphics, the choice is limited, ut as mentioned MX400 and Radeon SDR are both good choices.

Do you definately need PCI? PII and K6-2 based systems upwards with almost certainly have an AGP slot unless they are a Micro-ATX with onboard graphics of course.

yes he definately needs a pci card. right now his setup is a celeron 700, 128mb ram, and 2mb onboard video....the most graphically intensive game he plays is diablo 2 and it slows down quite a bit when there is alot of action. i thought about the voodoo but it was too expensive for his range and it looks like the aopen card is a pretty decent card for his needs. thanks for all the advice.

If all he plays is D2, a Voodoo3 3000 PCI from fleabay @ $22 would be fine...You get to use the glide API(which D2 was based on) and get good FPS..even on like CS you can get good FPS with a descent CPU. However, don't expect to be playing RTcW or something crazy like that.
