Im currently running my p2 300 with 128 mb ram @ 100 mhz...
I want to buy a p3 600eb with 133mhz bus, and my question is can i still run the cpu at 100mhz?

The AX6B can support 133mhz fsb but my ram is currently only pc100....

Thanks in advance...

Yes, you can under-clock the CPU but, I would recommend getting new RAM to get the full benefit of the higher FSB.

I would not get a 133 MHz chip. The AGP and PCI speed will too high I don't think it will work. I have been able to run my AX6B at 112 MHz, but only with a PCI video card. You don't want to have to run a 133 cpu at only 100MHz. I put a 566@850 Celeron in my board. Works great, no bus speed problems and CHEAP. Rick

Thanks Rick. I think I may do that, and then I won't need new ram either...

I would used an Iwill II adapter or some similar to allow for voltage adjustments if necessary. R.

You can run the cpu at a 100MHz bus. with a multiplier of 4.5(4.5x133=600) that would get you a 450MHz cpu for the price of a 600. I suggest just getting a 600e instead.

Sorry but I am confused.
The mb manual says the AX6B should not be run >100mhz FSB or is this incorrect?
I also want to upgrade from a PII 330 ( 5x66mhz ) so I thought a PIII 800 ( 8x100mhz ) would be the best I could achieve.
I want to achieve best increase in gaming performance ( Quake 3 framerate ) and new processor plus MX video card with my existing PC100 ram seems the best path. Comments.

Thanks all.
