AOpen Aeolus Ti4200

I'm going to buy a Ti4200 and think it will be the Aeolus. My question: Does anyone know if its memory runs with 446 or 500Mhz? I've read different posts about this, some say it's the only 128MB card that runs 500Mhz, some say it's currently running with 446 Mhz but Aopen will publish a bios update soon that will push the card to 500Mhz. Sadly the Aopen site itself doesn't give any detailed information nor have they answered an email yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

nVidia specs are for the 128 meg cards to run at 444mhz and for the 64 meg cards to run at 500mhz. All of the 128s seem to easily overclock to 520mhz+ (most people hit 550) while the 64 meg cards will easily overclock to 550mhz with most people hitting 570mhz-610mhz.

The 128 meg cards run a bit slower because the memory is so expensive...so to keep the card priced as 'budget' they use slower 4ns RAM compared to the faster 3.5ns with most 64 meg cards.

Of course, the manufacturers tend to try to one-up each other with a slightly faster RAM or guaranteed overclocks or whatnot.

Hope that helps.

I guess I'm wondering why your planning to go with the Aopen card when they don't seem to be totally upfront about the card or it's specs. If I were you I wouldn't trust them....what happens if you have problems with the card and they ignore your emails?

There are lots of excellent Geforce manufacturers. You might want to look into one other than Aopen.

Heres a link that says the 128Mb version is running at 500mhz. Where did you hear that there is suppose to be a bios update to get it to 500mhz? I think Gainward has at ti4200 128Mb at 500mhz too.

Thanks for the help, I've finally received an email from aopen: They suggested to look into the card's FAQ 😉.

Q4214: According to memory's chip spec, it supports 500MHz clock. Why my AOpen Aeolus Ti4200 memory clock only at 446MHz?
Actually, AOpen Alolus Ti4200 memory clock should be 500MHz. But nVidia latest finally release BIOS only supports 446MHz for Ti4200/128MB. AOpen will update the new BIOS to support 500MHz after nVidia releases new version BIOS. Also regarding the Ti4200/64MB, it supports 500MHz memory clock now.

After all I think I can trust into Aopen.
