Aopen 16x DVD drive & Promice ATA 100 IDE Controller Card

I just bought a new burner (Liteon 40x) and a new DVD drive The Aopen 16x.

no my old set up i had a 16x Yamaha burner and a 12x Creative DVD drive running off the IDE card with no problems. but the drive died so I bought new ones.

now I installed the drives with no problems BUT i CANT run the Aopen DVD drive off the IDE card for some reason. The Burner works fine but it hangs in the startup when its detecting the drives when the DVD is attached. Now ALL the jumpers are correct. They are both set to master because they are on separate IDE channels. The same way it was with the other drives. But it?s a no go.

It works fine if i have the Burner running off the IDE card and the DVD off the mobo. Which doesn?t bother me I?m just annoyed to why it doesn?t work the other way?

Anyone have any Ideas?

I also have a DVD and a CD-RW that don't work 100% on a Promise controller. I have to connect all CD drives to the onboard controller and just use the Promise card for hard drives.

my comp dosent boot if i connect teh HDs to teh controller and the Cdroms to tHe mobo on seperate channels. it just dosent like that
