Apparantly one of the higher ups finally realized that AOL's connotation is along the lines of "dogsh*t", "never connected", "far too much spam", "used by retards", etc.

You guys have it backwards.

AOL is requesting the name change because of Time Warner's business problems. Not the other way around.

The management at America Online has asked AOL Time Warner Chairman Richard Parsons to drop the AOL from the company's name, saying the identification of AOL Time Warner's corporate problems with the service are also tarnishing the unit's brand name, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Reading is fundamental or something.

ok, i didn't read the link. :(

my bad. Being a Braves fan and having followed Ted Turners Career with some interest, it really pissed me off when this merger happened. I knew that the result would be that AOL would drag time warner down.

i highly doubt that time warner is bringing AOL down. i of course could very well be wrong, it just seems ludicrous to me that a business that had been as solid as Time-Warner was before the AOL merger could all of a sudden become a burden on a POS like AOL.

Sorry, I guess I was hoping against all logic and reason that someone at AOL Time Warner had the barest margin of intelligence.

Without the Time Warner "merger" AOL would be bankrupt by now. AOL is bringing down Time Warner, AOL is lossing money, and subcribers by the millions. Not to mention AOL has been investiaged for cooking the books, I believe there are atleast a couple ongoing federal investigations into AOL accounting.

Weren't they looking into selling the Braves. They sold off the other team Turner used to own.
