AOL, a unit of AOL Time Warner Inc. (NYSE:AOL -
news), said its subscription base has doubled over the
last two and half years. AOL raised the price for its
flagship service to $23.90 a month from $21.95 recently.

AOL said the latest version of its service, AOL 7.0, is set for release in the fall
and will drive further growth. AOL 7.0 will focus on local features, as well as
offer high-speed programming and advances in online music.

<< AOL is a Virus. >>

and it sucks donkey dick.

AOL is the tool of the devil. it is such a f|_|cking piece of sh!t that it's unbelievable. sh!t, half the computers that come to me... the owners say that they have problems with the computer and it "keeps crashing"...first thing i see is the st00pid AOL tray icon and then comes the virus infestation. usually 2 or 3 of them too. and they wonder where they get 'em from ...

I was working for AOL when the big push was to hit the 10,000,000 mark, and when we did, they gave us a cheap old camera.

Used to be people would start out on AOL and then get a real ISP.
Not anymore.
What is it that keeps people dependent on AOL? Laziness, ignorance, eyecandy,.....what?

Back at sharky forums, we have an Anti-AOL Faction. I suggest that we initiate a group such as that here ourselves.

The apocolypse is near! When AOL hits 50 million, the world will end!!!!!

Actually, back in 1988 (yes, 1988), it was one of the only things available... it was either use AOL/INN/Prodigy or bust. So I used it for a couple, then went to INN (Sierra's Imagination Network, it was a VERY big games service with multiplayer Red Baron, Yserbius, cards, email, etc. cost $120 per month for unlimited access, but only after 6 pm), then Prodigy, then mulled around awhile until I finally got my beloved Cable Modem (TM) from Optimum Online about 4 years 1 month ago :D. It's always been giving me 200-700 KB (BYTES) download rates so long as a site can handle it, and really low ping :D.

Narcotics; that's the only thing I can think of, abosorbed through the skin, and distributed on those trial CDs.

You have to keep in mind that probably 90% of the 30 million users are
A) Teenage girls that want to use IM
B) Old people
C) New Users that want to "get in this internet thing"

They just start on AOL and stay with it because they get used to it. I'll admit it, I started on AOL, and as soon as I began to understand how limited, slow, and lame it was, I got a REAL ISP.

And if not for that $400 rebate sign up for MSN deal that all the PC Stores were running last year (still do?) AOL would have hit 30 million a lot sooner.

I hate AOL!!! *spits* I used to have a Commodore 64 and a 300 baud modem (showing my age :p). And those sorry ratbags bought my BBS and discontinued support for the C-64. Bastards!
