No warmup? No introduction? Just right into "I'm so-and-so" or "I'm with AOL" and then "can I have the name of your AOL account please?"

Freakin' weird. Sounds kinda scammish if you ask me. I mean you gotta figure just randomly dialing people in the phonebook you've got a good bet of hitting someone who has AOL. Probably 50% of the time or more.

I believe this calls for you to string them along and find out what's going on. Make up a fake name, see if they take it. That should tell you if it's a scam.

Oh yeah, after this, call AOL in your best "8 levels of pissed" voice and tell 'em to stop f%$#ing calling or else.

AOL Sucks, and they like to call people who suck and have them join their sucky network of sucking suckers. So there you go.

(*note, this does not mean in any way that because you may or may not have been called that you do in fact suck, it simply means they think you suck and want you to be a part of their national suck campaign)
